B. Frank Joy, LLC is now certified as a veteran owned small business and has recently applied for Hub Zone status.
Today, B. Frank Joy, LLC continues to work with contractors, utility companies, and municipalities in serving the full range of design, construction and maintenance of underground infrastructure. Significant diversification has been attributed to the companies’ commitment to new technology that allows remote inspection and rehabilitation of aging pipes in an effort to avoid costly and disruptive excavation.
B. Frank Joy, LLC was founded in 1917 as a coal hauling and feed delivery company business. In 1925, the company started renting trucks to Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO), and the C&P Telephone Company (now Verizon) which are customers B. Frank Joy, LLC still serves today. In 1946, at the request of these same customers, Joy became the first contractor in the District of Columbia to install underground conduit and manholes which is an expertise that currently remains as the core of the company’s present operations. During the 1980’s the Joy Company expanded into natural gas pipeline work and then in the 1990’s the company became a major contributor with installation of underground fiber optics rings in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. In 2003, the Joy Company expanded even more by offering sewer rehabilitation services to customers locally and outside the metropolitan area.
B. Frank Joy. LLC supports the local community and organizations in a variety of ways such as Prince George’s County Christmas in April, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Associated Builders and Contractors. Through national campaigns like Cystic Fibrosis or United Way, our employees enjoy living, working and supporting our local community.
